Itzhak Perlman wasn’t looking for another career until his wife, Toby, made a request. “My wife started a summer music program [the Perlman Music Program] — we’re having our 20th anniversary, and a string orchestra was included,” Perlman said. “She asked me to coach, which became conducting.
