Private-sector job growth remains strong

The Capital Region gained 4,000 jobs in the 12 months leading up to July, for a total job count of 449,600 last month, according to preliminary figures released Thursday by the state Department of Labor.

The Albany-Schenectady-Troy metro was one of the fastest growing metros in the state for private-sector job growth. The region gained a net 5,200 private-sector jobs, up 1.5 percent from July 2013.
