Gillibrand wants to expand summer school lunches

— U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing legislation that would expand the summer school lunch program to provide more meals to children when school is out.

The New York Democrat plans to announce her bill Wednesday at an event in Oneonta.

Gillibrand's office says that while 22 million children receive free or reduced-cost lunch at school, only one in seven have access to a good quality lunch during the summer.
