Schenectady man accused of choking woman

A city man faces charges that he choked a woman to the point where she could not breathe on her own, authorities said. Duvar Ayers, 34, of Campbell Avenue, faces one count of first-degree assault and first-degree strangulation, felonies. Ayers is accused of choking the woman at his residence just after 7:30 a.m. July 18. The woman suffered swelling to her trachea, which required intubation so she could breathe.
