If kids a truly hungry, they will eat the healthy food offered them. Does't make sense that portions could be too small yet food was being left on plates?
Clearly, if they are not going to eat that apple offered, then kids/teens should not be required to put it on their tray only to be dumped. But it also means the kids who are provided with free lunch, can't be hungry if food is left on plates. What's important, is that the healthy food is offered. 1/2 the battle is changing taste buds, and you can't accomplish that by going back to fatty, salty, greasy unhealthy food. Adding protein to the salad bar is a no brainer. How did they miss that? Vitamin water? That is a luxury food fad most can't afford. Basic water and protein rich milk should be free. Back to basics is what gets kids healthy and fed

I was listening to a teacher on the Ben Ferguson Show say that 90% of the food is tossed in the trash. So just like 95% of everything you post tonijean, you are wrong again. I grew up on all of the so called bad foods and have never been overweight there were very few overweight kids in our schools because we excercised. We played outdoors, we were active. So the answer is not nasty tasting pre packaged food but exercise. Remember, liberalism is a mental disorder.
