Ballston Spa man charged in pair of identity theft cases

Investigators with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office took a local man into custody on felony forgery charges after he allegedly stole the identities of two individuals to purchase gift cards at area retailers. Shane S. Curran, 43, was charged with two counts of second-degree forgery, five counts of second-degree identity theft and five counts of criminal possession of stolen property. Hope they come down hard on this guy. This is kind of a white collar crime where no weapons are shown but the destruction of a persons capability to function in this society is wreaked just as bad if not worse than a physical assault. Worse is that it is easy to do again once the criminal is let go from prison. Let's hope it they treat this much like they would treat an armed robbery so to send out a lesson.
