Proctors to screen Steinmetz documentary Tuesday
SCHENECTADY A PBS documentary on Charles Proteus Steinmetz, the “wizard of Schenectady,” will be shown at Proctors on Tuesday before its television debut.
At Proctors, it will be shown in the GE Theater at 7 p.m.
It will air on WMHT on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
The hour-long show is titled “Divine Discontent: The Life of Charles Proteus Steinmetz.”
It was co-produced by WMHT and supported by a grant from the IEEE Foundation and funding from Union College.
Steinmetz was a researcher at General Electric whose work focused on making electricity safe and transmittable to residential dwellings. He also ran for office -- and won -- as a socialist, and worked on the school board to create a better educational system for all of Schenectady’s children.
