The Grammy Award-winning band Living Colour will perform June 4 in the Empire State Plaza, kicking off the annual summer schedule of free music and festivals in downtown Albany.
Living Colour, a New York City-based band, plays a fusion of free jazz, funk, hip hop, hard rock and heavy metal.
Music is scheduled outdoors from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays in June; festival events continue in July and August.

June 11: Country singer Kellie Pickler
Pickler sang on “American Idol” and was a 2013 winner on ABC's “Dancing with the Stars.”
June 18: Bootsy Collins
He’s a veteran funk and R&B bassist, singer and bandleaders. His first group, the Pacesetters, was James Brown’s backup band.
June 25: George Thorogood
Since 1973, Thorogood and his band have been playing their rock hits, including “Bad to the Bone,” “Who Do You Love,” “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer,” and “Move It On Over.”
Thurs. July 4: New York State’s 4th of July Celebration
Starring Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals and Gedeon Luke & The People. Holiday celebration of music, fireworks, vendors and children's activities, from 3 to 10 p.m.
Sun. July 13: GE’s Kids Day Sing Along Adventure with Mike the Knight
Children’s activities and entertainment 12 to 5 p.m., including live music, theater, dance, face painting, bounce rides, puppet shows, arts and crafts, animals, stilt walkers and unicyclists.
Sat. Aug. 2: African American Family Day
Music, art, dance and food from 12 to 7 p.m.
Wed. Aug. 13: New York State Food Festival
Nearly 100 food vendors and live music from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sat. Sept. 13: Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Live music, dance, food and crafts from 5 to 10 p.m. in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.
