Softball: ND-BG gives Troy a scare

Reliever Hunter Levesque blanked Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons over the final four innings, and Lexi Lewis and Gloria Shufelt knocked in runs in the seventh to lift Troy over the Golden Knights, 6-4, in a Big 10 game Friday.

Levesque didn’t allow a hit in her stint and struck out eight, while Lewis and Alina Germinerio both had a double, single and two RBI for the league-leading Flying Horses (6-0, 8-1).

Kaitlin DelSignore doubled in the Troy seventh, Lewis hit an RBI double to break a 4-4 tie and Shufelt followed with an RBI single. Joelle Salisbury paced ND-BG (2-2, 2-2) with a double and single.

Samara Perry reached on an error in the home seventh, Sammy Hart was hit by a pitch and Alana VanDenburg smacked a two-run double to give Columbia (5-2, 7-2) a 3-2 Suburban Council win over Bethlehem.

VanDenburg also had a sacrifice fly for the Blue Devils, and Hart went 3-for-3. Carrie Maniccia went 3-for-4 to lead the Eagles (4-3, 5-4).

Megan Cullen had four hits and four RBI, Courtney Huff added three hits and an RBI and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake rolled to an 8-2 victory over Saratoga Springs.

Sara Willner-Giwerc had two hits, and Bailey Montola had two RBI for the Blue Streaks.

Mary Waterman had a two-run single, Emily Loudis had an RBI double and Arianna Young scattered five hits in Colonie’s 3-2 win over Mohonasen.

Mikaela Turner and Devon Coffey had RBI singles for Colonie. Morgan Redmond, Taylor Thompson and Maria Patterson had two hits apiece for Mohonasen.

Kelsey Schuette homered among her three hits, and Payton Witalec had four hits in Ballston Spa’s 11-5, eight-inning win over Shaker.

Chelsea Elliott homered for Shaker.

Tiana Montanez had a double, two singles, three RBI and three runs to help Lansingburgh top Voorheesville, 16-3, in the Colonial Council.

Lauren Nash had a double, two singles, an RBI and three runs for the Knights (2-5, 3-6). Lauren Dlugolecki had an RBI triple and Maddie McDonnell had a pair of singles for the Blackbirds.

Cassidy Coons fanned 12 and allowed one earned run, and Bailey Wood belted a home run as Middleburgh (4-1, 4-1) beat Canajoharie, 7-2, in the Western Athletic Conference.

Susie Rich doubled for the Knights. Shy Logan had a double and single for the Cougars.

Sarah Crimain had four hits and seven RBI, and Amanda Meachon had two hits and five RBI as Berne-Knox-Westerlo outslugged Sharon Springs, 25-10.

Morgan Daignault had a triple, double and single for the Indians, and Kara VanArsdale had a triple, two singles and two RBI.

Fort Plain edged Galway in eight innings, 4-3, behind Haley Kilmartin’s double and single. Sabrina Williams and Jessi Freebern both had a double for Galway.

Katie Thomas pitched a one-hitter, and Alex Lefebvre had two triples, three RBI and four runs as Waterford-Halfmoon (5-2, 5-3) beat Berlin, 16-1, in the Central Hudson Valley League.

Courtney Gardner had a double, two singles and three RBI for the Fordians.

Meghan Moffit pitched a five-inning no-hitter and went 3-for-4 with a home run as New Lebanon beat Doane Stuart, 27-0.

Gabby D’Alessandro went 4-for-4 with two doubles, Emma Cicchinelli also went 4-for-4, and Rensselaer (6-1, 6-1) beat Loudonville Christian (6-1, 6-1) in a matchup between CHVL contenders, 9-3. Ange Stephano homered twice for the Eagles.

Sydney Foland fired a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts and knocked in two runs as Duanesburg beat Rhinebeck, 3-0, at the Red Hook Invitational.

Foland had two doubles and a single, and Lia Schittine and Devon Hannel both had two singles.
