— A local teacher was killed in a three-car crash Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Albany Bush Road and Route 67 in the town of Mohawk.

Doreen Dziedzic-Etzkorn, 58, of Fonda, was driving a Ford Focus west when it was hit from behind by a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Connie Coddington, 53, of Gloversville, and pushed into the path of a Honda CRV headed east driven by Gail Waselauskas, 60, of Broadalbin, Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies said.

Dziedzic-Etzkorn, a science teacher at Adirondack Academy and mother of five, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coddington was taken by ambulance to Nathan Littaur Hospital in Gloversville with non-life threatening injuries, deputies said. Waselauskas was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam and later transferred to Albany Medical Center due to the nature of her injuries, deputies said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene around 4:08 p.m. All three drivers were alone, and all three vehicles were impounded for the investigation, deputies said.

No tickets had been issued as of Friday, and the investigation was ongoing.
