McCall will deliver SCCC’s commencement address for the Class of 2014 Thursday, May 22 at 3 p.m. at Proctors Theater in Schenectady. He has been chairman of the SUNY Board of Trustees since 2011.
“Carl is the definition of an impassioned and dedicated public servant, and we are excited and humbled to have him be a part of our commencement ceremony this year,” said Denise Murphy McGraw, chair of the SCCC Board of Trustees. “I am personally looking forward to hearing what insight and wisdom he will share with the Class of 2014, as I’m sure all our graduates are as well.”
Before being named chairman of the SUNY Board of Trustees, McCall served three terms as a state senator representing a portion of New York City and served as comptroller of New York from 1993 through 2002. He was also an ambassador to the United Nations and commissioner of the Port Authority of New York.
“We are honored to welcome Carl McCall as our keynote speaker,” said Martha Asselin, acting president of SCCC. “His accomplishments illustrate the opportunities and potential our graduates all have as they enter their careers, or continue to further their educations.”
