— A law school graduate who failed the bar exam four times has been arrested for faking a law license, state police said.

The scheme was uncovered by a state background check, police said, after the woman applied for a governor’s appointment as an attorney for the state Justice Center.

Carina E. Comiskey, 29, of Albany, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and offering a false instrument for filing, felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of falsifying business records.

She is accused of applying for the state job using documents that she said showed her as a licensed attorney. But a background check by a state police investigator allegedly showed the document was forged, that she was an Albany Law School graduate but had never passed the bar exam.

Comiskey was issued an appearance ticket and released to return to court later.
