Familiar face takes reins of Niskayuna school district

John Yagielski, who led the Schenectady City School District on an interim basis for two years, was named Niskayuna’s interim superintendent on Tuesday night. The Niskayuna school board appointed Yagielski in a unanimous vote at its meeting. The appointment took effect immediately. Yagielski will now lead the district as it searches for a permanent head after the board approved a separation agreement with the previous superintendent, Susan Kay Salvaggio, earlier this month.
