— Sen. Charles Schumer is calling on the Federal Emergency Management Agency to approve $6.7 million for repairs to the city of Troy's seawall.

The seawall was damaged in 2011 by floods from Tropical Storm Irene. Schumer says the lack of repairs is putting the city's downtown businesses at risk and jeopardizes efforts to revitalize the area.

The seawall was built in 1922 and the last major upgrades were completed more than 30 years ago.

About $50 million in public and private construction projects are slated for the city's waterfront. Schumer says new investors may avoid downtown Troy if the seawall goes unrepaired.

The Democrat toured the area Tuesday.
