Softball: Mayette has eight-RBI day for Tartans

Jen Mayette had a slugger’s day to remember for the Scotia-Glenville softball team.

Mayette cracked three home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in eight runs to power Scotia-Glenville (2-0) to a 14-2 rout of Gloversville in a Foothill Council softball game Monday.

Ali Stewart poked a solo homer, and Zoe Purvis struck out 10 and also doubled for the Tartans.

Lauren Piotrowski had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate and drove in two runs to propel Schenectady over Amsterdam, 5-3, in a Big 10 game.

Kaileigh Serafini added a double and a single, and Sara DeFruscio plated two runs for the Patriots.

Ashley Przybylowicz had a triple and a single for the Rams.

Hunter Lavesque tossed a one-hitter and struck out 14, and Troy (4-0, 4-1) banged out 13 hits to blank Albany, 15-0.

Victoria Hallette (triple, single, four RBI), Destiny Wierzlcki (triple, single, three RBI) and Alina Germinerio (double, single) led the Flying Horses.

Torie Rathwell went 3-for-4, including a grand slam, to power Guilderland over Bethlehem, 12-5, in a Suburban Council game.

Rathwell also scored five times for the Lady Dutch.

Emily Prosper had two hits, and Meghan Cullen drove in a pair of runs to spark Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake over Shaker, 6-2.

Kristen Scott had both RBI for Shaker.

Nicole McCarvill, Kelly O’Gorman and Brook Zeller each blasted homers, and Erin Buckley and Melissa Nealon each knocked in two runs in Shenendehowa’s 12-2 win over Ballston Spa.

Haley VanVoorst (3-for-5, RBI), Jennah Hogan (3-for-5, two RBI) and Alana VanDenburg (3-for-5) sparked 2-1, 4-1 Columbia over Colonie, 5-4, in nine innings.

Nicole Piazza was 2-for-3 to lead the 2-1 Garnet Raiders.

In the Colonial Council, Lauren Mahar was a factor on the mound and at the plate, striking out 13 and allowing just two hits while also adding a pair of triples, a single and three RBI to carry Schalmont over Fonda-Fultonville, 14-0

Aly Funk rapped a pair of doubles, and Jen VanAlphen belted a triple in Ichabod Crane’s 7-5 win over Lansingburgh.

Duanesburg (4-0) blanked Fort Plain, 14-0, in a Western Athletic Conference game.

Devon Hennel (three singles, two RBI), Rachel Gamache (double, single) and Kristina Hutchins (two singles, two RBI) paced the Eagles. Tori Powers and Sydney

Foland combined on a three-hit shutout.
