— A city mother faces an assault charge for allegedly cutting her daughter, authorities said.

Alexis K. Davis-Gooden, 28, of Victory Avenue, faces one count of second-degree assault, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. She was charged Tuesday.

Davis-Gooden is accused of cutting the girl in the arm with a kitchen knife on Aug. 25 at their residence. The cut was two-inches long. The child required medical treatment to close the cut and treat an infection, according to papers filed in court.
