Ms. Robinson, as an active cyclist, I'm sorry you had an encounter like that. It does the cycling movement to suffer that kind of behavior. But I have 2 observations based on your description: You're absolutely right, the town should post signs emphasizing that it's a "Multi User Path", not exclusively a bike path, even though that's become the casual term for it. The other is that it is a Multi User Path, and not a public sidewalk. That is, most people using it in whatever way, carry some momentum and probably wish to maintain that momentum. If you wish to stop yours, you should probably move off the path, just as if you were on a public road.
