— Three young men were shot over the weekend in two separate incidents in Albany.

The first two victims said they were shot in front of the Port Tavern early Saturday morning. On Sunday morning, the third victim said he was sitting in his car on Second Street when he was shot. All told police they did not know the shooters.

Police said they were notified of the first shooting by hospital officials at 3:35 a.m. Saturday. The victims in that case, both 23 years old, had injuries that were not life-threatening.

In the course of the investigation, police checked the car that dropped the victims off at the ER. They arrested the occupants on charges of gun possession. Akiva Vickers, 18, and Hector Balls, 23, both of Albany, were charged after police said they found an unloaded .380 caliber handgun in the car.

On Sunday, they responded to a report of shots fired at 5:30 a.m. and found the third victim, a 22-year-old man.

He was admitted to Albany Medical Center Hospital in stable condition.
