— The former editor of the Greenwich Journal and Salem Press was ordered held without bail on federal child pornography charges following a detention hearing Monday.

Timothy Tefft, 64, was indicted last week by a federal grand jury on three counts of possession of child pornography. The federal indictment, which was filed in New York’s Northern District, accuses him of possessing thumb drives with images of child pornography in 2010 and 2011.

He faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 on each count. U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Christian Hummel ordered him held without bail pending his trial, which was scheduled for Nov. 18.

Tefft had been with the Greenwich Journal and Salem Press for almost two decades before his arrest, which left the future of the publication in doubt.
