Augie's Restaurant to reopen this week
New location starts service on Wednesday
BALLSTON SPA Augie's Restaurant will reopen Wednesday.
After almost a decade in one spot, a fire in early August destroyed the popular restaurant, but owner Augie Vitiello promised he would serve food again. The former home of Manna's, in the heart of downtown at 17 Low St., will be the new location when service starts in just four days.
"We will have regular service, takeout, and reservations remain the same - only for parties of six or more," according to a notice from the restaurant. "This is going to be a highly sought after couple of days for reservations, so round up your friends and family, and give us a call and get your spot!"
Reservations can be made today through Tuesday between noon and 4 p.m.
According to a release when the Low Street location was chosen, the restaurant operators received many suggestions about their future.
"Some wanted us to completely move to other Capital District towns - others wanted us to be in the old Eccobelli's spot ... All of that aside we are pleased to report that our new home is still in our old community," said the restaurant.
The restaurant this week began asking fans on its Facebook page for ideas on what sort of memorabilia they should hang from the walls in their new restaurant.
More than $15,000 has been raised online since the fire to help employees of Augie's who have been out of work.
