Severe thunderstorm watch for Capital Region
CAPITAL REGION A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for the Capital Region until late tonight.
The advisory from the National Weather Service went into effect around 2:30 p.m. and applies to 18 counties, including Albany, Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schenectady and Schoharie counties. The watch is in effect until 10 p.m.
Additionally, a heat advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. and includes Saratoga and Schenectady counties. A combination of heat and humidity is expected, with heat index values ranging from 100 to 104 degrees.
Anyone outside for prolonged period is at risk for heat-related illnesses, according to the national weather service.
