Canajoharie man accused in Slingerlands bank robbery
ALBANY A Montgomery County man accused of an armed holdup at a TrustCo bank in Slingerlands last month was arraigned on a felony indictment charge on Monday, according to a release from the office of Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares.
Victor Shear, 45, of Canajoharie, is charged with first-degree robbery and accused of displaying a gun at the TrustCo bank on New Scotland Road in the town of Slingerlands on Aug. 21.
Police allege Shear was wearing a construction outfit when he took cash and fled. He was found in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., about two weeks later, and waived extradition proceedings.
Police have said Shear is also a suspect in the Jan. 23 holdup at the NBT Bank in Sharon Springs. Witnesses to that robbery also reported the robber was wearing a construction outfit.
Shear entered a not guilty plea and was sent to the Albany County Jail without bail.
