Schenectady County Family Court’s next judge could very well be decided during the primary election next week. Jill Polk, a senior attorney for the state Commission on Judicial Conduct, is challenging Kevin Burke, the chief prosecutor of abuse and neglect cases for the county’s Department of Social Services, for the Democratic nomination. It was good to see the Gazette's coverage of the Family Court race. Judicial races don't usually get much notoriety and, as a result, voters don't always know much about the candidates. I know Jill Polk to be extremely qualified for the job -- as readers of the story can ascertain -- AND as an attorney of unmatched integrity and compassion. She has dedicated most of her legal career to working with children and families, making her the best choice on September 10. Jill has the heart and the intellect to be an exceptional Family Court judge for the citizens of Schenectady.

First, check out the next-to-last paragraph & see whether you agree with me that the Gazette is in dire need of better copy editing - PUH-LEEZE.
Second, isn't it a shame Carl Strock retired? I, for one, would love to hear his opinion of these candidates (and the candidates' opinion of his reporting on this court).
