— The Daily Gazette, the Troy Record and The Saratogian all experienced circulation growth in the six months leading up to Sept. 30, according to figures released Thursday by the Alliance for Audited Media.

The Gazette’s average weekday circulation grew to 58,433 this year, up 6.54 percent from 54,847 over the same period last year. Average Sunday circulation was 59,741, up 6.11 percent from 56,299 last year. These figures reflect both online and print subscriptions to the family-owned newspaper, which is based in Schenectady but covers news across a six-county region.

“We’re truly excited to see the growth in both our print and digital circulation,” said Gazette Publisher John DeAugustine. “We’ve made a concerted effort to invest in the product and also in customer service with the goal of growing our readership, and it’s very nice to see investments in those areas paying off.”

The Saratogian and the Troy Record, which are owned by the Journal Register Company, also saw increases in circulation this year.

The Saratogian’s average weekday circulation grew to 7,837 in the six months through Sept. 30, up 6.93 percent from 7,329 over the same period last year. Their average Sunday circulation was 7,972, up 8.65 percent from 7,337 the year before.

The Troy Record’s average weekday circulation was 9,081 as of Sept. 30, up 2.19 percent from 8,886 the year before. Their average Sunday circulation grew to 9,280, up 4.27 percent from 8,900.

“It’s nice to see that print circulation is still strong and vibrant in this region,” said DeAugustine.

The Hearst Corporation-owned Times Union saw its average weekday circulation drop 12.7 percent, from 66,255 to 57,840. The Albany paper’s average Sunday circulation fell 8.33 percent, from 125,506 to 115,048.

The Post-Star, a Lee Enterprises-owned newspaper based in Glens Falls, saw its average weekday circulation fall 1.31 percent from 25,651 to 25,316. Average Sunday circulation fell 1.23 percent from 29,875 to 29,508.
