Advertising that glorifies war is misguided, offensive There is an advertisement currently being run on television where young men gush with bright eyes about the “incredible freedom of all-out war.” In another ad, it shows men in a post-victory battle scene, relaxed and happily sharing their experiences with the people who were too late and missed out on the wonderful victory. Still another ad shows men walking in battle gear with military automatic weapons, in ...

Mr. Bukoff - perhpas you haven't heard: Paul Ryan's healthcare plan will be revealed in 2014, (or not)! You can't help but wonder where the country might be today if all of the futile energy expended on attmepts to repeal the ACA was directed toward actual governing or even offering an alternative. Clearly, it is evident what and who is detested.

Henry, Obamacaare has nothing to do with helping the poor. Its about votes. janesjoys' irrationality aside, Obamacare is a bad deal for America. It is nothing more then a wealth transfer scheme designed to increase and solidify government dependency to ensure party loyalty. Ask yourself why liberals reject the idea of insurers selling across state lines, why they reject any tort reform, why they cant accept HSAs. Ask yourself why they would reject Universal Access Programs that would expand uninsurable risk pools. See these were Republican alternatives to the Government takeover of our health care. Not one of these ideas would have cost Americans their jobs, their existing coverage, or their work hours. What they didn't do was ensure the creation of a new dependent Democrat voting block. That was paramount, so the liberals claimed the Republicans had no ideas. The media dutifully assisted them and you bought into a plan that will reek havoc on our economy and health care. A liberal like Bob Beckle likes to talk about his pre-existing heart condition that caused him insurance problems. Maybe we should talk about his drinking, drugs and eating that caused it and why I should now have to pay to cover him. It doesn't matter how irresponsible liberals are, they believe the collective is accountable. Once this plan collapses and we are forced to single payer, illegals will be covered and the cost will be astronomical. Liberals are doing to America what they've done to Detroit. janesjoys is right, it is clear what we detest (socialism) and who we detest (Democrats).

Bob Beckel is now bashing Obamacare but he wants whats worse, a single payer system that will cut out insurance companies altogether. Republicans have been trying to do all of those things Phil said. Sebilus said men might need maternity care that is why some are losing existing policies. The truth is they need 20 million new policies to make this work so they are taking peoples insurance. The Supreme Court said this is a tax and the IRS is in charge of collecting tax. What happens when your 18 year old son or grandson do not pay this tax? Tax evasion and possibly jail. Just wait and see. Lemmings.

First off, If I tell you don't hit your hand with a hammer, and you choose to do so. I didn't WANT you to get hurt, I warned you about it.

ObamaCare is a simple plan to move to single payer health care. Obama is going to lie again in the near future, look I tried to work with the insurance companies and they didn't want to help. So now that it's a total and complete mess, big brother is going to provide for you. After all he does know better, and it will give people more time to update all their pseudo friends in cyberspace.

I lived in the Schenectady area in the 50's when GE and ALCO were booming. Lots of middle class union jobs. Mothers at home watching over kids and safe neighborhoods. I came back for a visit in 1992 and 1995 and asked "What happened?" I don't live in NY and have no right to judge, but the hate for liberals and Obama and Democrats is stunning in the editorials I read here. I wonder what you think the Republicans have done for you or will do for you? I finally found a partial answer to my question "what happened," here:http://www.buffalobeast.com/81/toughallover.htm. It doesn't seem like name calling and shouting insults is going to help your very real problems.

The Republicans will do more than tax and spend. They won't force you into buying something you don't want. This is not the 50s anymore, the democrats of today are socialists and communists.

Dianemcd, stunning? You have the Speaker of the State Assembly using tax payer dollars to pay sex abused women to keep quiet. We had a Governor fired for visiting hookers. We had another getting free WS tickets then lying about it. Our current Governor is trying to steal our guns. NY Democrats tax the living crap out of us to pay off their union cronies. NY Democrats are vile. Plain and simple. Republicans have done nothing for us since NY is run by the DNC. When you look at Schenectady today, just remember who has run NY for the last 50 years.

wmarincic-Right, the Republicans will take it away or sell it without you even knowing about it. I am a Democrat and neither a socialist or communist. I could say typical Republican. You say it, it must be true. Too bad you did not read the Buffalo Beast article. It might give you some insight into the present problems in Schenectady.

Readers of this blog ought to check out the link Dianemed posted above. http://www.buffalobeast.com/81/toughallo.... The decline of Upstate New York was directly related to the decisions Jack Welch made as CEO of GE. Since he departed from GE, I think that corporation has taken steps to help revitalize Schenectady with it's green energy production and battery manufacturing. When Welch was cutting back jobs in Schenectady on a massive scale, his biggest critic was Mayor Al Jurczynski a Republican. Welch had two priorities; enrich the stockholders and screw the Union workers. Schenectady suffered as a result.

Al Jurczynski had a vision to rebuild Schenectady after GE sold us out. He brought Guyanese here who pay taxes and buy homes and clean up neighborhoods. That is more than Stratton or McCarthy have done.

wmarincic, the article also went into depth about Jack Welch destructive decisions for Upstate New York while he was CEO of GE. That's what I was referring to. Must you always view everything through a democrat/republican prism?

I take issue with beer, jewelry, mortgage, and insurance companies paying live actors to portray families with deployed members to hock their wares. I view this as the pandering to weakness in its worst form.

Yes Will because that is what America has become, us against them. You can thank the great divider Obama for widening the division.

Well actually we can thank the 89% white Republicans' outright rejection of the first black president's victory for the division. But facts don't matter any more, do they? Even when they're staring you in the face.

ChuckD, the only fact we have is people like you judge Obama's actions by his color while the rest of us judge the character of the man. If you weren't color blind you'd hold him accountable and actually wake up to what he's doing. The level of incompetence is astounding. Republicans have always welcomed African Americans to the party it's the Democrats who drive them out with their vitriol. Now that's a fact. We can start with Clarence Thomas if you need examples of Democrats vile treatment of Conservative blacks. Problem is you think facts are simply left wing opinions. This clown of a president has failed on his own due to incompetence and a socialist agenda designed to bankrupt America. The division exists because you cant see past his color. You're color blind to everything he does simply to pretend you have some higher moral racial standards, while tagging conservatives as racists. Its simple ignorance on it surface. I dont care if this guy is purple, he's an arrogant incompetent, socialist buffoon bent on destroying the America I grew up loving and your one of the lemmings helping him. PERIOD
