Man allegedly fired a gun in downtown Saratoga Springs
SARATOGA SPRINGS A city resident is facing felony charges after allegedly firing a gun in downtown Saratoga Springs early this morning, according to a news release from the Saratoga Springs Police Department.
Police officers responded to Phila Street around 1:15 a.m., after receiving a report of shots fired. Witnesses in the area identified a white man, 24-year-old Justin Eistertz, as the person who exited his residence at 68 Phila St., pointed a rifle at them and fire a single shot, police said. He then allegedly returned to his residence with his rifle, without anyone being injured.
Officers on the scene surrounded the home and made contact with Eistertz, but he refused to come out. There was a brief discussion with another occupant of the home and officers were let into the house, where they were able to take Eistertz into custody without incident.
Police said they secured the rifle in his home and also located spent shell casing in the area where he allegedly fired his rifle.
Eistertz was transported to the police department and held pending a city court arraignment. Charges against him include second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a C felony, first-degree reckless endagerment, a D felony, second-degree menacing, an A misdemeanor.
