High school football: Kolberg sparks Scotties, 21-8

— Derek Kolberg scored twice, once via the run and once on a pass reception, to carry Ballston Spa to a 21-8 Class AA Empire Division victory over Albany Saturday afternoon.

The win was the Scotties’ first in the division. They are 1-5 and 2-5. Albany falls to 0-6 and 1-6.

Kieran Mack also scored on a three-yard run for Ballston Spa. Tysheem Morris recovered a fumble for the Falcons’ lone score.

AMSTERDAM — Brian Stanavich and Alonzo Martin each registered two touchdowns, and Julian Gallup ran for one score and also threw two TD passes to propel the Rugged Rams over the Bulldogs in a Northwest Division game.

Amsterdam improves to 2-2 and 4-3, while South Glens Falls slides to 0-4 and 0-7.

Hector Diaz scored on a 50-yard run, John Magaletti scored on a 20-yard run and Brady McGillan tallied on a 52-yard run for Amsterdam.

Steve Hubinsky scored on a 92-yard kickoff return for the Bulldogs, who also got a scoring pass from Lou DeRidder to Pat Rish and a two-yard run from Reggie Vigar.

QUEENSBURY — Brett Rodriguez ran 10 times for 166 yards and three touchdowns as the Northwest Division champions completed a perfect regular season.

Rodriguez scored on runs covering 33 and 80 yards in a 20-point second quarter that enabled the Spartans (4-0, 7-0) to erase a 7-6 deficit.

Asa Barnhill had the Gloversville (1-3, 4-3) touchdown.

Zach Girvin ran for a 12-yard run for the 2-4, 2-5 Indians.

Ethan English also tallied on a nine-yard run for 5-0, 7-0 Cambridge. Schoburg is 1-4 and 2-5.

WARRENSBURG — The Burgers piled up 258 yards and closed with 20 fourth-quarter points to beat the Raildroaders.

Warrensburg improves to 3-2 in the North Division and 3-4 overall. Whitehall is 2-3 and 3-4.

Joey Schuster led Warrensburg with 101 yards on the ground, while Malachi Prosser scored three touchdowns, including one on a 55-yard interception return.
