Volleyball: Knights earn share of first place

Emily Brown piled up 30 assists and 25 service points, and Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons finished in a first-place tie in the Big 10 by beating Schenectady, 25-8, 25-23, 25-8, Friday.

Sarah Del Vecchio had 13 kills and Paris Jarrell had 11 kills for the Golden Knights (11-1, 14-2), who shared the league title Albany.

Sara DeFruscio paced Schenec­tady (7-5) with eight kills.

Emily Schumaker had 15 points, five aces, five kills and 11 digs, and Waterford-Halfmoon earned a share of the Central Hudson Valley League championship with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-210 win over Germantown.

Carly Howe had five aces and four kills for the Fordians (11-1, 13-1), who tied for first with Loudonville Christian. Emily Jones had 21 assists and five aces for the Fordians.

Gloversville (10-4, 15-4) ended Johnstown’s bid for a perfect Foothills Council season, winning, 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 22-25, 25-21.

Jenna Putnam and Katlyn Pierce sparked Gloversville with nine kills and 23 assists, and 16 kills and 12 blocks, respectively. Christina Pavlovsky had 12 assists and nine digs, and Ana Kroup had eight kills and eight digs.

Annie Stock had 24 kills and 34 digs for the Lady Bills (13-1, 18-5), and Jerica Holland had 31 assists.

Maddie Gurga served 10 aces among her 21 points and also had eight kills and 11 assists to propel Broadalbin-Perth over Scotia-Glenville, 25-11, 25-10, 25-16.

Chelsea LeBlanc and Regan Reed both had seven kills for the Patriots (11-3, 12-3).

Jordan Marshall served four aces among her 12 points and added six kills to lead Mayfield past Amsterdam, 25-9, 25-20, 25-12, in a non-league match.

Kaylee Bumpus topped Mayfield (13-3) with 13 points, and Mackenzie Giggers had 10 assists and eight points.

Boys

BH-BL sweeps

Austin Nydegger had 13 kills, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake beat Mohonasen, 25-4, 25-18, 25-14, in a Suburban Council match.

Brien Hollowood had nine kills for the Spartans (15-2, 17-3), and Drew Haughey had five aces and nine digs.

Jake Sewell had 14 kills and six blocks, and Luc Cianfarani had 23 assists as Saratoga Springs beat Guilderland, 25-15, 25-21, 27-25.

Liam Stewart had eight kills for the Blue Streaks (6-10), Gabe Biss had four kills and six blocks, and Andy Marotta had five kills and four aces. Mark du Moulin paced Guilderland with 11 kills and seven blocks, and Nate Backus had 12 assists.

Shaker got 12 kills and nine digs from Jarrod Parower in a 25-22,

25-21, 25-19 win over Columbia.

Sean Stiso had six kills for the Blue Bison (7-9), and Colin McLean had five aces and 12 assists. Justin Dessureaux had 14 assists for Columbia.
