Soccer roundup: Sabres shut down Loder, Bulldogs

Bianca Mascitelli scored two goals, and Schalmont shut down high-scoring Morgan Loder for the second time this season, as unbeaten Schalmont stopped Cobleskill-Richmondville, 7-1, Thursday in a Colonial Council girls’ soccer game.

All but one of the goals for 15-0-0 Schalmont came from an underclassman, with senior Maddie Saccocio and sophomores Rachel Cardinal, Brooke Haviland, Sarah Lehr and Julia Rossi joining Mascitelli, an 11th-grader, as goal-scorers.

Loder, who takes a school single-season record 54 goals into the postseason for the 12-4-0 Lady Bulldogs, has just one in two games against the Lady Sabres.

Schalmont, the two-time Section II Class B champion, finishes its regular season Saturday morning at Lansingburgh against Watervliet.

Albany Academy finished third behind Schalmont and Cobleskill-Richmondville in their division, beating Watervliet. 3-1, for an 11-5-0 regular-season record.

Val Taylor had a goal and assist, with the other goals coming from Taylor Lockwood and Maura Mulligan. Shelby Dugan had the Watervliet goal.

Voorheesville made it four teams with 10 or more wins in Division I of the Colonial, as Emily Cole and Veda Hansel both had two goals in a 5-1 win at Fonda-Fultonville. Shelby Wadsworth scored for the Lady Braves.

Mechanicville will take an 11-4-1 record into the postseason after a 6-1 victory over Holy Names. Kali DeMarco had two goals and an assist, Sarah Meisel got a goal and assisted on two others and Mad­ison Gowett, Sarah Erno and Keara LaFountain all added one goal.

Cohoes and Ravena-Selkirk played to a 2-2 draw. Samantha Ryan had both goals for 5-9-2 Cohoes. Nicole Hume and Sarah Hume had the goals for 5-10-1 Ravena.

Alexis Whalen scored a goal and assisted on Caitlyn Maloney’s goal as 6-8-2 Lansingburgh earned a 2-2 draw with 11-3-2 Ichabod Crane.

Jordyn Miller scored from a Madison Shea assist in the first half, and Makala Foley made 10 saves as Shenendehowa beat Shaker, 1-0, in a Suburban Council North game.

The Lady Plainsmen are 11-3-1, and close the regular season Saturday against Bethlehem. Shaker will bring an 8-5-3 record into the Class AA sectionals.

Kylie Arno scored in the first overtime as Columbia edged Averill Park, 2-1, to finish the SC season at 8-8-0.

Ellery Bianco had a goal as 9-6-1 Saratoga Springs edged Ballston Spa, 2-1, and Bethlehem is 7-6-2 after a 2-0 win over Colonie

Victoria Huff had a pair of goals as Schuylerville beat Greenwich, 5-0, to finish 13-1-0 atop the Wasaren League and 14-2-0 overall.

Madeline Nevins added a goal and two assists, and both Kaylia Sorgie and Jordyn Rousselle contributed a goal.

MacKenzie Hinchcliffe scored three goals and set up two by Jordyn Haynes as Hoosick Falls beat Hoosic Valley, 5-0. The Lady Panthers went to 12-2-0 in the league.

Stillwater downed Granville,

8-0, with Alexis Lockrow and Erica Nichols both netting two goals; and Tamarac beat Cambridge, 3-0, in the other Wasaren games.

PLAINSMEN TAKE NORTH

Chris Schmid had both goals as Shenendehowa beat Shaker, 2-0, to finish one-half point ahead of the Blue Bison in the SC’s North division,

James Homan and Mike Miner both had an assist as Shen wrapped up league play at 13-2-1, good for 181⁄2 standings points. Shaker had 18 points from a 13-3-0 record.

Bethlehem got goals from Ethan Strauss and Matt Henning to rally past Colonie, 3-2, in the SC South. The Eagles finished second to Guilderland in the South with 15 points from a 12-4-0 record. Matteo Curto and Elidon Bardhollari gave 6-10-0 Colonie a 2-1 lead at the half.

Luis Rockwood had a goal and assist as CBA (4-7-0) beat Catholic Central, 4-0, in the Big 10. Dennis Riley and Brendan Ward had the other goals.

Jackson Leon had a goal and assist, and five teammates added a goal apiece as 9-1-1 Albany beat 4-6-1 Amsterdam, 6-1. Greyson Mullins scored for the Rams.

Logan Ackley produced three goals, and Francesco Mastrocinque added another as Broadalbin-Perth beat Johnstown, 4-0, in the Foothills Council. Connor Monks and Scott Everson both had a pair of assists for the 10-3-0, 12-3-0 Patriots.

John Moutopoulos had two goals and two assists to lead Albany Academy past Watervliet, 5-0, in the Colonial Council. Liam Maloy, Matt Benton and Alex Chan had the other goals for the Cadets, who wrapped up the league season at 11-3-0.

John Alverson’s goal got Ravena past Cohoes, 2-1 with Kyle Almindo saving a penalty kick to preserve the win. The Indians went 9-5-0 in the Colonial.

Anthony LaChance got the goals as Ichabod Crane wrapped up a 14-0-0 Colonial season by edging 8-6-0 Lansingburgh, 1-0,

Schuyler King’s two goals helped Voorheesville down Fonda, 4-1. Tristin Nellis had the Fonda goal.

Devan Battisti scored a pair of goals as Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville beat Saratoga Central Catholic, 3-1, in the Western Athletic Conference.
