— A Troy man faces a charge of unlawful fleeing a motor vehicle after he allegedly fled from police on Saturday, Waterford police said.

Robert N. Stocklas, 22, of 6th Ave., was arrested on that charge and faces traffic violations of reckless driving and speeding, along with vehicle and traffic violations.

Police said that at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Officer Craig Fifield observed a vehicle traveling at high speed entering Waterford from Cohoes.

When the officer tried to stop the vehicle, it headed west on Clifton Street at speeds of up to 60 mph, police said.

The vehicle turned into a driveway and the driver fled on foot. Police then learned the vehicle had just been involved in an accident in Cohoes and fled the scene.

An area search including a dog didn’t turn up the driver, but at 8:30 p.m. Saturday Officer Daniel McGreevy located the suspect.

Stocklas is due in town court on Thursday.
