Schoharie County man charged with violating order of protection

— Police allege a Schoharie County man violated an order of protection by possessing weapons in his car and a gun in his home.

Roy C. Nicolai, 58, of 261 Nicolai Road, West Fulton, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of second-degree criminal contempt, according to a news release from state police.

Police allege Nicolai had a cane sword and a rifle in his car when he was pulled over in Schoharie on Oct. 11 following a search at his home where police say he had another rifle along with ammunition.

Nicolai was arraigned in Schoharie Town Court and jailed in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $7,500 bond.
