$150K gift to SCCC will be used for interior renovations
SCHENECTADY Schenectady County Community College has received a $150,000 gift to be used for interior renovations on the building at 201 State St., which will house the college’s Workforce Development programs.
The donation, presented at SCCC’s Board of Trustees meeting, was made by Catherine Kindl, whose family also donated the building to the college.
The first phase of the renovation project, which included restoration of the building’s facade and installation of a new roof and windows, has been completed.
The next phase will focus on interior renovations.
The renovated space will include classrooms, a computer laboratory, a meeting room and office space.
SCCC will use the renovated building to strengthen its community outreach and to expand its offerings of workforce services and training programs.
“Workforce training and development is fundamental to everything we do at Schenectady County Community College,” said Denise Murphy McGraw, chairwoman of the SCCC Board of Trustees, in a news release. “We thank the Kindl family for their continued support and the donation of this facility at 201 State Street, allowing us to expand our workforce development programming to further SCCC’s initiatives.”
