— University at Albany is getting closer to recording its first win in the Colonial Athletic Association, but the Great Danes aren’t quite there yet.

Sean Baner kicked a 42-yard field goal on the last play of the game as Delaware rallied to defeat the Great Danes, 33-30, Saturday.

Baner’s kick came after the Blue Hens (5-2, 2-1 CAA) drove from their 37 to the UAlbany 25, and the Great Danes (1-6, 0-3) called two timeouts with two seconds left.

Delaware tied the game when Trent Hurley hit Rob Jones for a 20-yard touchdown and Michael Johnson for a two-point conversion with 1:42 to play. The defense then forced a three-and-out to take over with 1:29 to play.

UAlbany had taken a 23-22 lead on Will Fiacchi’s 12-yard TD pass to Nic Ketter early in the fourth quarter and followed that up with a 73-yard drive capped by Omar Osbourne’s 21-yard run. Osbourne finished with 142 yards and three scores.

Fiacchi completed 17 of 26 passes for 212 yards.

Andrew Pierce had 120 yards and two touchdowns for Delaware.

The Great Danes return home to Bob Ford Field to host Towson Saturday at 3 p.m.
