Outdoor Journal: 'Need' not really considered when buying a gun

I have to admit that there are times when I let my eyes rather than my mind dictate what I want in terms of guns. I know that looks alone should not be a major requirement, but I still let it influence my choice. There was once a time when, if I was going to purchase a firearm, I would ask myself if I really needed it. But when I retired, that word “need” was no longer a part of my vocabulary, especially when it came to my outdoor toys....
