Gloversville police probe report of teen held against will
GLOVERSVILLE Police are urging residents to be cautious after investigating a report that a child was mistreated and held captive in a car Tuesday night.
Two juvenile witnesses gave the information to the Gloversville Police Department, but police could not find any reports of missing children nor or an abduction, according to a news release.
Police said two young witnesses reported seeing a four-door car — either gray or tan — heading west on Forest Street at about 7:13 p.m.
The juveniles told police there were two adults in the front seats and in the rear there was a male wearing a hat and a blonde female aged 13 to 15.
Police were told the girl in the back began yelling to be let out of the car and, after kicking and punching the door, she was struck by the male before the car drove off.
Police interviewed residents fitting the description, but found no evidence any abduction took place, according to the release.
Police are reminding people to “remain vigilant” and report any suspicious activity to police.
Anybody with information on Tuesday night’s incident is asked to contact police at 773-4506, 773-4505 or 736-2100.
