High Schools: Willis carries Sabres to win

— Devon Willis carried 27 times for 250 yards and two touchdowns, establishing a school record for career rushing yards, as unbeaten Schalmont shut out Cobleskill-Richmondville, 27-0, Saturday night in a Class B West Division football game.

Willis broke the school record set from 2007-009 by Vince Gallo.

Willis scored on runs of five and 54 yards, Nick Gallo caught a touchdown pass and had 13 solo tackles, and Trevon Tucker also had a TD for the 5-0 Sabres.

Schalmont’s defense picked off three passes, with Anthony Ballai, Paul Mattick and Hunter Gac getting interceptions.

SCOTIA — Marty McCullum ran for 138 yards and scored three touchdows as the Tartans moved into the fourth and final playoff spot from the West Division with two games remaining.

McCullum opened the scoring with a 70-yard punt return, and added a 73-yard TD run as the 3-2 Tartans took a 21-0 lead at the half.

GLENS FALLS — The Patriots outscored the Indians, 20-0, in the second half to get to 4-1.

Quentin Austin helped Glens Falls take an 18-14 lead at the half as he ran for a touchdown and passed for another.

Mike Visco ran the kickoff back for a TD after the first Glens Falls TD, and Tyler Schmidt ran for a score in the second quarter for Broadalbin-Perth.

Darius Reyes ran for the go-ahead touchdown in the third period, and also returned a fumble for a touchdown.

DUTCHMEN NOW 10-2

Jack Hanlon and Kledis Capollari scored goals as Guilderland beat Niskayuna, 2-0, for its eighth straight win.

Kedrick Weeden had to make just three saves as the Suburban Council South Division-leading Dutchmen finished 3-0 in a tough stretch against Shenendehowa, South second-place team and reigning Class AA champ Bethlehem and 8-3-0 Niskayuna.

Shenendehowa used second-half goals by Phil Barrett and Drew Lewis to get past Bethlehem, 2-1, and move to 9-2-0. Austin Lang scored for the Eagles.

Shaker jumped over both Shenendehowa and Niskayuna and into the SC North lead with a 7-1 win over Columbia, its second win in two days against a South team. Six different players scored for the 10-2-0 (15 points) Blue Bison, led by Justin Brehm’s two goals.

Rob MacDonald’s first-half goal helped Saratoga Springs edge Averill Park, 1-0, in another Suburban Council game.

Cameron LaVallee scored four goals as Schalmont shut out Fonda-Fultonville, 10-0, in the Colonial Council. The Sabres improved to 8-2.

Northville remained unbeaten (10-0-2) in the Western Athletic Conference with a 2-0 win at Galway.

The win was the sixth straight shutout victory for the Falcons.

Lansingburgh got past Albany, 1-0, in a non-leaguer, with Luke Fane registering the goal.

DRISCOLL LEADS SARATOGA

Cassidy Driscoll scored both goals as Saratoga Springs downed Averill Park, 2-0, in the Suburban Council.

Ellery Bianco and Kennedy Cocozzo both had an assist.

Tessa Hadland had both goals as Northville spoiled Galway’s homecoming game, 2-1.

Tayler Fancher made 10 saves in the Northville goal, allowing only an Erica Chase goal.

Lexi Riffelbach and Madison Purcell both scored twice in the second half to lift Big 10 leader Catholic Central past Canajoharie, 4-1, in a non-league game.

Jordyn Logan scored the Can­ajoharie goal.

Renee Handy had two goals, and Savannah Olsen also got a goal as Sharon Springs played Richfield Springs to a 3-3 non-league tie.
