Football roundup: Patriots erase 14-point deficit, stun Raiders

SCHENECTADY — Felix Rodriguez and Hassan Rainey combined for 337 yards rushing and three touchdowns as Schenectady rallied from a 28-14 deficit to shock Colonie. 34-28, in a Class AA Liberty Division game Friday night.

Rodriguez ran for 169 yards on 21 carries and scored twice, while Rainey added 168 yards on 24 carries and another score.

Quarterback Brandon Gwinner completed six of 11 passes for 48 yards and a score for the 3-1, 3-2 Patriots. Colonie slipped to 3-1 and 3-2.

Devon Edwards had three rushing touchdowns and also threw a TD pass to Kavon Johnson on the option for the Garnet Raiders.

Quesada ran for 159 yards and three scores, Maynard added 112 yards and two touchdowns, and Newell contributed 53 yards and two touchdowns for the 4-1 Spartans.

Tim Voorhis added two touchdowns for the Spartans, who also got scores from Chris Goudy, Mike Ditroia and Kalen Meinott.

CHATHAM — Tyler Van Brunt scored four touchdowns as Chatam won a battle of undefeated South Division teams.

Van Brunt scored on runs of 15 and five yards in the second quarter as Chatham (4-0, 5-0) took a 22-7 halftime lead. He had a two-yard score in the third quarter, and capped his big night with a 78-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Van Brunt also scored on a two-point conversion.

DeLossantos had TD runs of 12 in the first quarter and two in the second quarter for Mechanicville (4-1, 4-1). He also scored on a two-point conversion.

Alex Hall-St. Gelais also scored twice for Mechanicville. Also scoring for Mechanicville were Chris Kawola, Brandon Russell, Don­ovan Mysliwiec and Noah Harpe. Harpe’s score was a 72-yard kickoff return.
