Girls’ volleyball: Spartans triumph

Kate Isaken was a strong server with eight aces to go along with four digs, and Lindsay Bynon chipped in with eight digs and three aces to lift Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake to its 10th straight Suburban Council win, 25-7, 25-6, 25-6, over Mohonasen.

The Spartans are 14-3 overall.

Hayley Macken distributed for 22 assists, Gabby Gresta contributed nine service points and seven kills and Lauren Canterbury added seven service points and three blocks in Shenendehowa’s 25-18, 25-19, 25-10 win over Averill Park.

Niskayuna swept Colonie, 27-25, 25-10,2 5-8, as DeAnna Whittemore produced six kills, five aces and 11 digs.

Katie Alden (three kills, three blocks) and Julia Wagner (five kills) also had strong matches for the Silver Warriors.

Nicki Bonaquit registered nine kills and four aces, Colette Paskei-Masters had 44 assists and nine digs and Kristi Burgess chipped in with 29 digs to lift Saratoga Springs (8-2) over Guilderland, 25-16, 16-25, 25-8, 18-25, 25-19.

Guilderland (3-7) was led by Rebecca Straubel with 10 kills, seven service points and 13 digs. Mackenzie Smith added six kills, and Jessica VanDoren contributed 12 assists and 12 service points for the Lady Dutch.

Bethlehem stopped Shaker, 25-21, 25-12, 23-25, 16-25, 25-13.

Jenna Giacone (eight kills, six blocks), Gabby Giacone (22 kills) and Carrie Maniccia (10 kills, 10 digs) led the 6-4 Eagles.

Bree Nichols and Justine Torre combined for 12 kills, Aimee Spilman had 30 assists and Leah Gould led the defense with 19 digs to pace Columbia over Ballston Spa, 25-20, 25-23, 25-23.

In the Central Hudson Valley League, Loudonville Christian School blanked New Lebanon, 25-5, 25-11, 25-10, behind Victoria Brown’s 18 service points, including seven aces, and three kills.
