— Shereesha Richards was nearly flawless from the field and the foul line in scoring 28 points Sunday, leading undefeated UAlbany to an 87-71 non-conference victory over Delaware State at SEFCU Arena.

Richards, who tied her career high in points, was 11-for-14 from the field and 6-for-7 from the foul line as the Great Danes improved to 5-0. It matches the team’s best start in program history. The Danes opened the 2010-11 season 5-0.

Margarita Rosario scored a career-high 21 points for UAlbany, which outscored Delaware State, 50-38, in the second half. Sarah Royals added 14 points, and Erin Coughlin had a career-best 10 points.

“We knew they were going to put up a lot of points,” UAlbany coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson said. “We have had a different X-factor every game, and today Margarita and Erin provided that, and it is neat to see more people step up.”
