— Right winger Ryan Haggerty returned to the lineup Saturday and had two goals and an assist to power 14th-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to a 5-2 men’s college hockey non-conference win over Mercyhurst that snapped the Engineers’ three-game losing streak.

Haggerty missed the Engineers’ 5-2 loss Friday to the Lakers because he was returning from Connecticut after attending the funeral of his grandmother.

Haggerty assisted on Guy Leboeuf’s goal 2:52 into the game that gave RPI (7-5-2) a 1-0 lead. Haggerty then scored his first goal with 4:29 left in the first period.

Kyle Dutra scored midway through the second period for the Lakers (5-7-1) to make it 2-1. Haggerty got his second of the game, a power-play tally, with 2:09 left in the period. It was his NCAA-leading 15th goal of the season.
