Media doing its job reporting the news from Mont Pleasant I regret I was unable to attend the Schenectady school district panel discussion on Nov. 13 as I had a prior commitment. If I were to attend, I would have first taken Superintendent Laurence Spring to task for his continuous statements that reports of misbehavior have been “sensationalized” and others were out of the district’s purview. Really, Mr. Spring? Most, if not all, of these ...

Dear Sandra Govenor-, The suicide rate in the military is staggering!! A shameful stain on our country. But the solution is not to "Thank" veterans but to Apologize and feel sorry that they chose to go at all. I personally cringe at the thought of our country dropping bombs and utterly destroying another countries entire infrustructure physically and emotionally traumatizing the entire population and with the killing of innocent civilians women and children- which our country refuses to recognize. Of course the veterans returning from such a horrific ordeal will be equally effected and emotionally traumatized- They were "sold and marketed" into service that they would be liberating and doing good- There is nothing good that ever comes from war. And I feel bad for those too poor and not other job options than to enter the military- Rich , educated and upper middle class never go or would encourage their children to go.
Imagine if those truly concerned for the Veterans well being instead worked to END senseless war and worked to convert our so called "defense budget" to more productive and humane industries. Amzing how there is always money for war but not for education, or local jobs, or social mental health and overall wellness programs.
Another sad part is the LOSS of our Freedoms since 9/11- the total opposite of what we are sold is the point of war. No Thank You ! I want my freedoms back and soldiers whole!

"Nov. 5 has come and gone, and the elections are over. The results: Most incumbents were re-elected"______ONE DEFINITION OF INSANITY IS doing the same thing over & over & over & over, expecting different results---Does that define us voters in the State of New York?

tonijean,
You must have been living under a rock for many years. Or then again, you feel compelled to spew the garbage that you wrote in response to the opinion expressed by Sandra Govenor. In your perfect utopia, the "so called defense budget" could be eliminated and those monies could be distributed amoungst the populous. How wonderful tonijean, but in the world we live in, it is something that will never happen. You even mention the loss of YOUR freedoms since 9/11. How soon we forget how this one event shook our great Republic to it's core and many came to the stark realization that terrorism that once seemed so far away, now was present on our very shores. And that is the beauty of living in a country where you can state your opinion without fear of reprisals or intervention.

As a veteran of the first Gulf War, I was not "sold or marketed" to serve by country. I chose to do so because I wanted to. I was not poor or uneducated. I received a BS from a well known university and was Commissioned an Officer. I for one do not want you to patronize, pander to me or "feel sorry" for me. I am not sure why I am taking the time to respond to you this morning, but after reading your comment, felt compelled to state my opinion. Again, I am able to do so thanks to our amazing Veterans, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice for their service. For those reading this, Veterans always will appreciate a simple "thank you for your service" and I always take the time to say this both to those presently serving and those individuals that have served. The freedoms we do enjoy, and there are many, have been paid for by the blood and sacrifice of those that have served. You can sleep well tonight Tonijean thanks to the eternal vigilance of those men and women presently serving and if you truly care for them, keep them in your prayers.

The voters in Schenectady are insane Ahm. All 4 incumbents Democrats re-elected, didn't matter if they voted to increase everyone's property taxes 3X the Cuomo cap. The one open council seat goes to a "new" Democrat who lied about his employment, age and professional qualifications. City residents understand the importance of high taxes and machine smears.

I was writing to comment on Ric's letter.( I agree) I saw where he wanted to punish Muck Rakers only to find when I looked up the definition that it has changed since I was in High School. Definition :to search for and expose real or alleged corruption, scandal, or the like, especially in politics. Originally the "Muckrakers" exposed real political corruption, kickbacks, bribes etc. They were typically journalists who were trying to reform society for the better. Using the Muck Rake to clean the dung from the stalls of society. Unfortunately in today's politics the word "alleged" has been added to the definition because this has become a common tactic in today's politics.

tonijean613, nothing good ever comes from war? Are you just totally oblivious to what goes on in the world? What has gone on in the world? Do you think the holocaust survivors believe that? The British, French? How about the war our founding fathers engaged in? Did any good come from that? If you believe Lincoln was a great President then you surely feel the Civil War was fought for good cause. Like most liberals you have a warped view of why wars get started and fought. You lack respect for the very people that allot you the freedom to babble nonsensical liberal gibberish. Look at what you liberals have done to our borders. I expect the same will happens to our coasts once you eliminate the military. Hope you can speak Chinese.

fnbo5, Thank you for your service, Service you provided voluntarily. Liberals will always pretend to support the military, but the truth is they don't. Do not let them bother you. You have the unqualified respect and gratitude of the majority of Americans.
