GOP makes dent in majority of Democrats on Schenectady County Legislature

Non-Republicans landed two seats on the Schenectady County Legislature but fell far short of upsetting the formidable majority held by the Democrats. Brian McGarry, a Republican, beat incumbent Democrat Matt Martin for the two years remaining on the District 4 seat that Angelo Santabarbara left to join the state Assembly this year. no matter, the dems will marginalize the newbies, leaving them nothing to do on the leg but to complain. so buckle up, the next two years are going to a noisy ride. lol at least wallach did not win. thank the gods

Too many County voters still "understand the importance of high taxes". A positive step but along way from any real democracy. We need term limits to get rid of Democratic pensioners.

Gina99- so "GOP pensioners" are better? hmmm- doesn't change the taxes unless you eliminate this level of govt and cap ALL salaries. PS check out Times Union today and lead story of SUNY President David R. Smith getting paid on the side $349,295 kickbacks- IN ADDITION to his taxpayer funded salary of $625,000.. meanwhile this money should be funneling down to schools and kids which it is not- so they increase property taxes to line pockets of already grossly overpaid Administrators. Its not the teachers!!
