Touré, Muldaur, Torres on Music Haven slate
SCHENECTADY Malian guitar maestro Vieux Farka Touré, folk revival legend Maria Muldaur and perennial favorites Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra are all part of the multicultural offerings announced today for the 2013 Music Haven Concert Series.
The six free concerts will take place on Sundays at 7 p.m. from July 7 through Aug. 11 at the Agnes McDonald Music Haven Stage in Central Park.
“We’re thrilled to present another season of incredible music in Central Park,” Music Haven Artistic Director Mona Golub said in a press release. “We can’t wait to see the joy on people’s faces when they experience these shows.”
Touré, son of famed African singer and multi-instrumentalist Ali Farke Touré, kicks off the season on July 7. The other concerts include everything from soul (formerly local singer Doña Oxford, who is now based in Los Angeles, on Aug. 4) to new folk (Ana Egge Band on July 21) to Latin jazz (Torres).
