Saratoga Springs bike, pedestrian crossing to open

A new bicycle and pedestrian crossing between the Railroad Run Trail and Spa State Park will open Saturday. A 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned to dedicate the crossway across Route 50, near its intersection with West Avenue. A crossway has been installed in recent months by the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Why should pedestrians and bicyclists be required to push a button?

I don't recall ever driving my car and having to get out to press a button to get through any intersection. Shouldn't we expect better use of technology?
