— Four area men were charged Thursday with patronizing prostitutes, Schenectady police said.

The men were arrested during a city police Special Investigations Unit operation with the state police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team. The operation was conducted Thursday evening and focused on those who patronize prostitutes.

Charged with one count each of third-degree patronizing a prostitute, a misdemeanor, were: Johnny R. Bryant, 38, of Cooper Street, Brunswick; Matthew R. Geren, 38, of Fourth Avenue, Schenectady; Timothy G. Habernig, 54, of Garling Drive, Latham; and Anthony J. Robilotto, 70, of Mazie Lane, Clifton Park.

The arrests come a week after another operation targeted prostitutes in Schenectady. That operation resulted in the arrest of three women.

Police have said the operations are expected to continue into the summer, targeting both prostitutes and their customers.
