Jimmy Hamilton didn’t allow a hit after the first inning, and Schalmont rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Thursday to beat Catskill, 2-1, in the quarterfinal round of the Class B baseball tournament.

Catskill took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on its only two hits, a two-out single by Tyler Bulich and Pat Sullivan’s RBI double.

Hamilton kept it a one-run game by getting out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam with a forceout at home and a strikeout.

His teammates got him the lead in the home sixth. as Don Toma drew a one-out walk and Greg Musk followed with a single, both moving up a base on a throwing error,

John Pascarella beat out a two-out infield hit to score Toma, and Musk came all the way home when Catskill pitcher Hans Schmidt fell covering first base.

The 17-4 Sabres, the fourth seed, won’t know their opponent in Saturday’s semifinals until later today. The game between top-seeded Chatham and defending champion Albany Academy was suspended with one out in the fourth inning, with Chatham leading, 5-3.

Mitch Forshey fired a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts as fourth-seeded Scotia-Glenville beat Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 3-0, in a Class A quarterfinal.

Scotia will play Troy, a 1-0 winner over South Glens Falls, in a Saturday 1 p.m. semi at the Plumeri Sports Complex.

Charlie Peltz didn’t throw a fourth consecutive no-hitter, but his one-hitter was a big part of Queensbury’s 11-0 win over Amsterdam in another Class A quarterfinal.

Julian Gallup’s single in the third inning ended Peltz’s no-hit run.

Eric Wettersten, Reed Farrier and Brett Rodriguez all had RBI doubles for the 16-5 Spartans, the No. 2 seed.

Amsterdam finished 10-9.

Top-seeded Lansingburgh and Catholic Central had their game suspended, to be picked up today.

The other three quarterfinals — Guilderland at Columbia, Schenectady at Shaker, and Bethlehem at LaSalle — were all suspended and will be resumed today.
