Animal shelter in Gloversville burglarized; dog returned

Someone broke into the Regional Animal Shelter in Gloversville last week and police are looking for information from the public that would help solve the burglary. A dog at the shelter, Delila, shown above, was missing after the break-in, but was later returned, the shelter said.

— Someone broke into the Regional Animal Shelter in Gloversville overnight, and police are looking for any information the public may have that would help solve the burglary.

Gloversville police said shelter staff arrived early this morning to find the door broken and Delila, a pit bull, missing. Delila was available to be adopted before the burglary, according to a news release.

The shelter said this afternoon the dog had been returned by police.

A Gloversville police spokesman could not be reached this afternoon for comment.
