Shenendehowa school board member Wiggins to resign
CLIFTON PARK Shenendehowa Central School District Board of Education member Mary Wiggins said Monday she intends to resign from the board, district officials said.
Wiggins’ sudden departure does not change the upcoming school district budget election, officials said. Tuesday’s ballot will still ask voters to choose among four candidates to fill three three-year terms.
The terms of Gary DiLallo, Richard Mincher and Andrew McCarty will expire at the end of June.
Wiggins’ term was to expire at the end of June 2014. The Board of Education will decide how to fill the final year of her seat.
DiLallo and Mincher are running for re-election and Todd Gilbert and Pam Koniszewski would be newcomers to the board.
Koniszewski is a retirement counselor and managed more than 40 employees at Key Bank, she wrote in a profile on the League of Women Voters online campaign guide. She has managed volunteers and has been a substitute music teacher in all of the district’s schools. One of her two children currently attends Shenendehowa schools.
Gilbert has experience in budgeting and financial analysis and a professional background in telecommunications and technology. He serves on the Board of Directors for the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association and is an active school volunteer with two children at Karigon Elementary School.
Mincher has been on the board for six years and active in the PTA for eight years. He is a performer and poet who teaches creative writing and poetry to underprivileged students in Los Angeles in the summers.
DiLallo is a retired public school teacher who has served on the Shenendehowa board for 12 years and the Capital Region BOCES board for three years. He is involved in Jonesville United Methodist Church.
