Gloversville man, 61, pleads guilty to sexual misconduct
GLOVERSVILLE A 61-year-old Gloversville man admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl last fall and awaits sentencing, police announced Friday.
John Johnson, of 18 James St., pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child during his arraignment before Fulton County Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Giardino, according to a news release from the Gloversville Police Department.
Police said Johnson became a suspect in October 2012 when Gloversville High School officials told officers that Johnson picked up the underage girl and took her to his home.
Police went to the home then but Johnson never opened the door, and the girl was taken home to her parents later that night after she was seen leaving Johnson's residence, according to police.
Police further allege Johnson was providing the girl with alcohol between June and October of 2012.
Johnson was released to await sentencing.
