Softball: Fordians close in on CHVL title

Ashley Lefebvre and Courtney Gardner both drove in four runs Monday as Waterford-Halfmoon beat Loudonville Christian School, 12-6, to move close to a Central Hudson Valley League softball championship.

Lefebvre had a triple, double and a pair of singles. She also picked up the pitching win, striking out 15, as the Lady Fordians went to 12-0 with four games remaining. Both Loudonville Christian School and Emma Willard, have three league losses.

Madia Kots threw a four-hitter and struck out 15 as Emma Willard beat Doane Stuart, 18-3. Abby Nissen homered for the Jesters,

Angela Fix knocked in eight runs with a home run, two triples and a single as Germantown topped Rensselaer, 14-9.

Hunter Levesque fired a two-hitter as Troy beat Schenectady, 15-0, to wrap up the Big 10 title.

Levesque, an eighth-grader, is unbeaten in the league and 11-1 overall for 10-0, 11-1 Troy. She also had four singles as Troy finished with 17 base hits.

Victoria Hallett had three singles and two runs batted in, Kaitlyn DelSignore had a triple and single and Alina Germinaro had a pair of hits and two RBI.

Anna Grace Maggs belted a two-run homer in a five-run third inning, and Joelle Salisbury fired a four-hitter, as Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons beat Catholic Central, 5-1. Salisbury also had a two-run single as the Lady Knights moved into second place at 6-3. Joelle Giacobbi had three of the CCHS hits.

Michela Puglisi recorded a five-inning perfect game as Amsterdam beat Bishop Maginn, 21-0.

Schalmont and Albany Academy remained tied atop the Patriot Div­ision in the Colonial Council.

The Lady Sabres got a one-hitter from Lauren Mahar in an 11-0 victory over Holy Names. Maher struck out 10, and helped the offense with a pair of base hits.

Tori VanAlstyne drove in three runs, and both Emily McLaughlin and Rachel Peek had three hits as Schalmont went to 10-2 in the league.

The Bears are also 10-2 after using a three-run sixth inning to score a 3-1 home win over Ichabod Crane.

Carylann Geddes, Alessandra Archino and Carli Voellm all drove in runs in the sixth.

Albany Academy hosts Schalmont on Thursday.

Mechanicville beat Cobleskill-Richmondville, 18-3, as Kali DeMarco had two hits and three RBI and Kylie Liberty went 3-for-5. The Liberty Division leaders, now 11-1, scored 15 runs in the first inning.

Megan Krisowaty had three hits, and both Paige Roberts and Jamie Bartholomew hit RBI doubles for the Lady Bulldogs.

Cohoes, which has a game remaining with Mechanciville, got to 8-3 with a 10-1 win over Voorheesville.

Winning pitcher Briana Bowen struck out 13, and had a single and double at the plate. Lily Sencer had two singles and a triple, and Danielle McComber singled and doubled for Cohoes. Bowen’s double was the big hit in a five-run fourth inning.

Losing pitcher Amanda Gatt went 3-for-3.

Sam Hart’s second hit of the day drove in the winning run in the last of the seventh inning, giving Fonda-Fultonville a 3-2 win over Lansingburgh. Gess Patregnani had two hits for Lansingburgh.

Lauren Balfe had three hits, and Bri Slater added two, as Canajoharie beat Galway, 13-10, in a non-league matchup of Western Athletic Conference North Division rivals.

Rebekah Reichard had three hits to lead Galway.
